Plugins Shmugins!

Hello everyone.  Today I want to touch upon a topic that has been on the forefront of my mind the last couple days.

Wordpress and Plugins.

The Niche Store Journey takes advantage of over 20 Wordpress plugins at the time of this writing, and I am convinced that a performance boost could be gained by culling some that are “nice to have”, but not crucial to the success and maintenance of the blog itself.

This holds especially true if you are building niche sites with Wordpress.  Having your page take 3-5 seconds or longer to load due to the processing power needed to run your plugins will not leave your visitors with a positive impression of your site from the onset, and may cause them to leave before it has even loaded!

I plan on doing a brutal assessment of which of my plugins are needed and which are simply clogging my blog’s performance.

I highly suggest you consider doing the same with your blogs and niche sites!

Have any of you run into site performance issues due to plugin overload?  I would love to hear about it!

Plugins are like rabbits. Somehow, they multiple with little effort on my part. Every few months I go in and deactivate a bunch of plugins and deleted them from my site. Too much of a good thing no longer is, when it comes to plugins.

Fortunately, I’ve only had one plugin cause conflicts with others, and I don’t remember which one it was (I no longer use it).

Have fun going through yours!

Rochelle, that is a great analogy!

Especially these days, when WP is constantly updating, and sometimes plugins lag behind and cause coding conflicts (either with WP or each other)

Thanks for chiming in!
