Hello everyone, I am writing today to let you all know about an initiative I am taking to help get me out of my current BANS/Niche Store funk.
If you have read any recent posts, you know that I too have been hit by the big Google slaps, and many of my top performing sites have been de-indexed.
As a result, I have gone from making several hundred dollars a month for my first 3 months, to literally SINGLE DIGIT dollars this month… While I had expected this may occur, it was still very discouraging of course.
I have been pondering what steps I need to take in order to get my sites re-indexed, but also improved to the point where they rank well and offer compelling content for visitors.
I came to the following conclusion:
Since I am a fairly busy guy (school just started, and I have other obligations as well), I am going to make it my new goal to make one “improvement” a day to each of my Niche Stores. These improvements could range from anything to gaining a new link, to writing an article or perhaps refining the design or usability.
Each and every day though I will do at least one of these things to my stores. I have come to the conclusion that some of the stores will not make the cut. 80% of my income has come from about 50% of my stores, and the ones that have been very poor producing stores will not be receiving the same treatment unless for some reason it appears they may be turning around.
So there you have it, I hope perhaps that this new goal of mine can inspire some of you to follow suit. I know that for me, since the recent Google/ePN rampage I have been very much in a “PANIC MODE!!!” state of mind… So I have simply decided that instead of completely overhauling all of my tactics and scurrying to finish something overnight, I am simply going to take slow and simple steps and see where they take me.

That’s a good system Tyler. It’s easy to get overenthusiastic and plan to do a million different things to improve your online presence, but most of the time, that just overwhelms us and the important things don’t get done.
I really like the idea of simplifying it and doing one important thing a day, and then smaller tasks with whatever time you have leftover.
Have you been able to keep this system going? I have tried doing something like that before, but I always gave up. It’s pretty hard, but 1 link a day is not a bad goal at all.

Well, it certainly is difficult to keep this system up. But I am doing my best to get improvements made on each site as often as possible.
I try not to let any days go by where I do not make any positive steps forward.
