History: The Future Is Now!

By Tyler | Jul 1, 2008

Hello everyone.  I have returned from my East Coast vacation, and after giving myself a day of rest time, I am back and ready to get cookin’ again on some Niche Store Building!

Having the opportunity to travel to such a historic part of our country, it really made me realize how many great niche ideas are out there that may be a bit off the beaten path.

Going to places such as Historic Williamsburg and Jamestown, Mount Vernon (etc…) brought many ideas for untapped markets to mind.  It really made me realize something:

History is in high demand!

I had never really thought about it before, but there are so many great collectable products that deal with US and World History.  An added bonus (at least for myself) is that I am actually *Interested* in these things.  So building Niche Stores based on historical trinkets would actually be fairly fun and exciting, unlike making the 1,000,000,000th site about iPods!

My challenge to you is to take a deeper look into American and World History, you may find more than just cool stories and a wealth of information, but a prime niche store just waiting to be built!

I too love history. I have been trying to combine my love of history with my love of politics. I am making a BANS store focusing on political memorabilia. This is a very fun niche.

    That’s a cool idea Tyler.

Sadly, a history store here in Northern Ireland might be a little too risky. Our history tends to involve sectarianism and attempted revolutions, which still haven’t really ended.

It’s a fascinating idea though. With the internet, you wouldn’t need to live in a certain country to be able to collect information and trinkets from that country (Though it would help of course! :D ).

Michael: Glad to see you checked out the new blog! What do you think?

As for your comment, yes Northern Ireland has quite an “involved” history which is still prevalent today!

But collecting and selling historical items from around the world is a great way for anyone interested in history to either sell or buy items that they find of interest!

    Great post Tyler,
You should’ve just let everyone build Ipod and Golf sites!
And yes, it is good idea to focus on the things that can be bought only through an auction. Thanks for the post.

    Well Bo;

If I let everyone continue doing that, I don’t think I could sleep at night knowing that I run a site that proclaims to *Help* people with Niche Stores ;-)

All kidding aside, glad you took something from the post!

    Excellent post Tyler

My father-in-law runs Bans sites that are only to do with collectibles and history, I think he’s up to about 10 sites now and they are all based on two subjects with such an enormous diversity. I won’t post the niche but suffice to say it is massive enough for a little competition and I find myself drawn to this idea too.HMMMM!!!
